Art director Chris Matthews shared in Xbox Wire that some parts of the Slipstream Engine have been around for nearly 25 years. While the engine is still being developed, Matthews mentioned that creating similar graphics in the Slipspace engine would take a lot of time and resources. Because of this reason, it made perfect sense for Halo Studios to switch to Unreal Engine for their future projects.
